Preparation before tpu tape manufacturing

TPU tape is widely used on knitwear such as T-shirts and sweaters. As knitwear are easy to get out of shape after washing or hanging, TPU tape is supposed to be sewed on the shoulder part to avoid this problem. Why choose TPU tape? Besides the elasticity, the common feature of elastic tape, TPU tape is clear transparent and recyclable. It is because of the feature of TPU material. Then clothes manufacturers don’t need to consider the color matching of the tape and clothes, which can reduce the cost. But how’s TPU tape produced? It is said that fight no battle unprepared. So what should be prepared before TPU tape manufacturing?

1. Material preparing

When get an order, we should confirm the quantity and estimate how many kilograms of material are needed. Then choose the material type. Different type of material owns different performance. For example, we have three main materials for TPU tape: Germany material, Japan material and Taiwan material. Relatively speaking, Japan material is the best while Taiwan material has worse performance. Raw material is an important factor affecting the physical property of final TPU elastic tape.

2. Dry the material

TPU is a kind of material that can be decomposed by water. It owns the ability of absorbing moisture in the air. However, the TPU raw material which is rich in moisture is bad for TPU tape manufacturing. If we use the moist raw material, the final TPU tape will have little bubbles on surface. The bubbles will make TPU tape break when be sewed.

3. Clean the machine

The machine must be cleaned thoroughly, or the dirt will imbed in final TPU elastic tape. The result of TPU tape using is also breaking. Because the imbedded dirt has actually destroyed the structure of TPU tape.

4. Color modulation

If customers request the colors on TPU tape, we can customize. In theory, TPU tape can be in any color. But some special colors may be hard to be modulated, which leads to the higher cost. Generally, we have two types of colored TPU tape. The one is in solid color while the other one is in translucent color.
