Function of clear straps on clothes

Sometimes we can find clear straps on shoulder part of clothes. Generally, they have two types. One is obviously because the clear straps are hanged in a circle shape. These two straps are used as hanger loops. Hanger loops helps people hang their clothes up more conveniently. Especially for flat shoulder upper outer garments and one-step skirts. Some clear hanger loops are totally transparent and invisible, but some are unique and has brand names printed on.

Another type of clear straps is not easy to be saw. The clear tapes will be sewed in the shoulder seam part for shaping. Sometimes we can see the tape covered by sewing thread, and sometimes we can’t find it because it is covered by fabric entirely. Thus, whether we can find clear elastic tape sewed in shoulder part is up to the stitching way. Different from the clear straps used for hanger loops, the tape used for shaping is semi-transparent, matte and thin. Generally, it is only in thickness of 0.12 mm to 0.18 mm.

After knowing what the clear straps on clothes used for, another question is what the straps made from. The clear tape is made from TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer), a kind of eco-friendly, stink-proof and recyclable plastic material. As to the feature of TPU, TPU clear elastic tape is stretch. For the clear straps for hanger loops, the demand for elasticity is less while more elasticity demand on clear shoulder tape. So there are several types of TPU tape to meet different usage and demand.
